What We Do

Creative Director

The Creative Director is responsible for connecting with artists on campus and curating submissions for the magazine. The Creative Director must be proficient in Adobe as they will modify the artwork to be printed.

We have 5 Editors who apply in the Spring and steer the magazine for one academic year: Editor, Associate Editor, Managing Editor, Art Director, Layout Editor, and Publicity Editor. Along with these leader positions, the magazine also has an Editorial Board consisting of anyone interested. The Board reads and votes on all submissions.

Associate Editor

The Associate Editor is the right hand to the Editor and will work closely with them. The Associate Editor acts as the "enforcer" of the Editor, in that they implement the ideas that the Editor has. The Associate Editor also acts as Editor when the Editor is not available.

Editor

The Editor of The Minor Bird is the head of the magazine - they set the tone and aesthetic for the magazine in a year. It is the Editor who makes the final decisions about art or writing that might not coincide with The Minor Bird's mission or goals. And it is to the Editor that all other Editors report. The Editor will also be the face of the club and must be available and open to the community.

As an Editor, the responsibilities range from the smallest to biggest aspects of the club. The Editor will direct the magazine for the year, but must also asure the magazine's and club's continuing growth and role on campus. All of the Editor's actions and decisions must be for the betterment of the magazine and the organization.

If you are interested in applying for Editor please contact our advisor, Dr. Carrie Tippen, with an application.
